This beautiful family are a constant attraction for hatred and trolls. Now I love my Royals, I love the pomp an pagenatry. I love the monarchy and to me the monarchy reflects what being British is all about.
The royals are not exempt from separations, deaths and divorces. And Diana’s death was harrowing for her young sons. The day of her funeral, I will never forget that little boy walking behind his mother’s coffin with the world’s eyes fixated on him.
Prince Harry the youngest of Diana’s sons openly admits that his mother’s passing took its toll on his mental health. He partied, he dated, he lived the life of a royal and then met his true love, Meghan Markle. Since Meghan hit the scene, there has been constant bashing of her in the press and on social media. Any juicy gossip was open market for the press, even to publishing a letters to her father.
To me she was being hounded just as his mother was hounded, and it is no surprise that this young man decided to walk away from it all. And to be honest who could blame him? I know I don’t.
Even his Aunt the Princess Royal agree’s it was the right thing to do as she said to Vanity Fair last year.
“I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there are downsides to having titles.”Princess Anne to Vanity Fiar
“So I think that was probably the right thing to do.”
However what has astounded me is that this young couple, after suffering a miscarriage last year when announcing that they are due to have another child in the spring, find themselves subjected to nothing but cruel abusive comments.
Making a Press Statement is one thing… the press hounding them is another. And if the celebration of a future birth is something that some now use as a means to attack this couple, what sort of world are we living in? Surely everyone has their right to privacy as well as the right to announce a future birth.
Long gone are the days of, ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything.’
